Our Journey

Where It All Began

DIYYA'S journey began over a decade ago with a simple powerful idea - creating a safe, welcoming space for families.

A Place For Families

Our first initiative was a weekly family-centred programme known as the Saturday Club. At a time when no affordable provision existed locally, the Club offered inclusive activities for children of all ages, supporting mental and physical wellbeing through play, creativity and social connection.

From Participants To Leaders

Along side children's activities, mothers were encouraged to volunteer and take part in running sessions. Over time, the Club grew into a trusted local space and a vital source of support for families, offering respite, connection and opportunities for personal growth.

What started as a small weekly session developed into a strong community-led initiative. Many women who first engaged as participants have gone on to take on leadership roles within DIYYA as volunteers, staff and trustees.

Our Continuing Commitment

This journey continues to shape our work today, guiding our commitment to delivering inclusive, culturally senseitive activities that strengthen families and communities.
